No one else was here at the start of the most simple, poorest paying dungeon on the sphere. I had no scale for what kind of threat I would be facing.
I had nothing but the robe I was wearing, with no belt I had to keep pulling it to prevent exposing myself. I had my fists and my feet. But everyone said this wasn't that hard yet.
So I went down the hallway.
Two giant frogs (the size of a large dog), blocked my way almost immediately.
I was about to punch when one of them talked.
"I am 2 and my friendly frog over there is 1, what are we put together?"
Math riddles, this was weird, and insanely easy.
"3," I said.
The frogs started bleeding profusely.
"I am 2 and my friendly frog over there is 2, what are we put together?"
"4," I instantly said.
"Bet you can't get this one. I am 7" the mortally wounded frog said, emphasizing the number like it was crazy or strange. "My friendly frog is 1. What are we together?"
"8"
It was a math dungeon, and one for little tiny kids, it seemed like. With the third addition solved, the frogs bled out, and then vanished, leaving behind a tiny copper coin, and a puzzle piece that was about the size of a thumb tack.
I put both in my pocket, and walked further down the dark dingy hallway.
There were two more frogs, once again confident that they had stumped me with
2 + 5 = 7
1 + 7 = 8
1 + 7 = 8
5 + 4 = 9
I answered the frogs three questions and picked up 2 copper coins and 1 more thumbtack sized puzzle piece. The puzzle pieces were like pie sliced up real fine. I probably needed twenty pieces to put the pie back together.
The next group I encountered were two lizards who cackled, "These will stump dumb human, ha ha ha."
9 + 4 = 13
4 + 6 = 10
3 + 9 = 12
8 + 6 = 14
These four problems all had two digit answers. I got 3 copper coins and 2 puzzle pieces.
7 + 7 = 14
8 + 8 = 16
9 + 9 = 18
4 + 4 = 8
I dispatched the next set of lizards, asking about numbers added to themselves, with trivial ease.
The next group I ran into were two different kinds. One was the ghost, the other was a frog.
"My ghost friend here is 0. I'm a 1. What do you get when you add us together? Spooky huh?"
0 + 1 = 1
2 + 0 = 2
9 + 0 = 9
0 + 0 = 0
I got 5 copper coins and 3 puzzle pieces.
Then were was a group of problems, where one of the monsters was a tiny tree, and the other was a goblin.
"My bark is very tough, so is this problem. I am TEN, my froggy friend is 2. What are we together?"
10 + 2 = 12
0 + 10 = 10
1 + 10 = 11
10 + 9 = 19
7 + 10 = 17
I got 7 copper, and 3 more puzzle pieces. So now I had 22 copper and 12 puzzle pieces.
"PERFECT SCORE - 1 silver awarded. Bonus Final Exam! Please Get Ready!" said the lumbering troll that was coming towards me.
2 + 10 = 12
3 + 0 = 3
5 + 10 = 15
6 + 6 = 12
10 + 10 = 20 (Challenge Problem! Good Answer!)
4 + 9 = 13
10 + 3 = 13
8 + 9 = 17
9 + 7 = 16
7 + 10 = 17
5 + 5 = 10
3 + 8 = 11
0 + 9 = 9
3 + 9 = 12
0 + 3 = 3
0 + 8 = 8
3 + 5 = 8
1 + 8 = 9
0 + 10 = 10
10 + 2 = 12
"Before the Troll toppled to the floor, it shouted, Bonus Final Exam PERFECT SCORE - 10 silver awarded. Congratulations, you are #301 to complete this dungeon with a perfect final exam."
A dungeon master warped in front of me.
"Congratulations. Your final rewards in Novitiate's No Belt Dungeon are: 11 silver, 22 copper in coinage. You receive an additional 28 puzzle pieces to make 2 complete sets of puzzles. Your two complete puzzle sets are combined to make a white belt with a diamond star on it. You are on the Diamond Track!"
The man disappeared after handing over the white belt with a diamond star to me.

I ran out the dungeon exit, and came back to the large candle lit Novitiate's Dungeon List room. There was a white light on top of the Novitiate's White Belt Dungeon room.
There were a bunch a sea theme creatures in this one. Merfolk and mer-beasts abounded. It started with two little fish

4 - 1 = 3
7 - 5 = 2
5 - 1 = 4
10 - 6 = 4
The little fish were done.
3 - 0 = 3
10 - 2 = 8
7 - 7 = 0
8 - 7 = 1
More little fish smashed. Then some clams came out and spoke for the next part.
4 - 5 = -1
0 - 7 = -7
2 - 7 = -5
5 - 9 = -4
7 - 10 = -3
1 - 4 = -3
2 - 6 = -4
7 - 8 = -1
More clams were finished.
Then some big fish showed up. It was back to addition, now with multiples of 10.
10 + 10 = 20
10 + 20 = 30
20 + 20 = 40
10 + 60 = 70
Even bigger fish
60 + 0 = 60
10 - 90 = -80
40 + 20 = 60
70 - 70 = 0
10 + 70 = 80
100 - 0 = 100
Then some tiny very confident sharks. These were the first to come in packs of three.
"I'm 3, my first buddy is 6 and my second buddy is 8, what are we all together?"
0 + 4 + 9 = 13
5 + 5 + 7 = 17
2 + 3 + 3 = 8
8 + 1 + 2 = 11
3 + 6 + 0 = 9
0 + 9 + 1 = 10
7 + 7 + 9 = 23
I defeated all the little sharks.
Then it was time for a bonus final exam again, but this one at least did a better job at mixing up all of the different concepts it had brought up.
60 + 20 + 90 = 170
60 + 80 + 0 = 140
3 + 5 + 1 = 9
0 - 60 = -60
60 - 100 = -40
0 + 90 = 90
10 + 6 + 8 = 24
90 - 100 = -10
0 + 60 + 50 = 110
90 + 50 = 140
80 - 70 = 10
20 - 60 = -40
6 + 7 + 10 = 23
70 + 70 = 140
6 + 6 + 9 = 21
80 + 90 = 170
5 + 3 + 6 = 14
60 - 40 = 20
9 + 10 + 9 = 28
6 + 4 + 4 = 14
0 + 60 = 60
9 + 9 + 5 = 23
0 + 10 + 6 = 16
8 + 0 + 8 = 16
10 - 20 = -10
20 + 90 + 40 = 150 (Challenge Problem! Good Answer.)
10 - 40 = -30
6 + 1 + 1 = 8
50 + 100 = 150
60 + 10 + 30 = 100
Once again, I got a perfect score and a perfect bonus final exam score. I had earned 24 silver in the White Belt dungeon, a bit more than twice what I earned in the first dungeon. And I had a Yellow Diamond Star Track belt.

I decided to wait, get something to eat and get a breath of fresh air before I continued with the Yellow Belt.
As I walked out of the Novitiate dungeon doorway room, I was met with thunderous applause.
"You're the first Yellow Belt - Diamond Star in two months! Diamond Star, Diamond Star, woo woo. Dungeoneers 104 Local is here to watch and cheer you on!"
"You're making us look bad!" yelled a plain yellow belt. The woman moved in to punch me.
"299 times 299 equals 89,401!" I yelled out of spite, and frustration. If they thought arithmetic was impressive they were really dumb.
The woman reeled in reaction to my arithmetic and fell backwards, unconscious.
"I'm a Diamond Track, leave me be or I'll recite math!"
The room scattered. Eventually I went out and got some food and air. Before long I was standing before the Novitiate Yellow Belt dungeon
